Spring Football
ASA Football strives to be the best youth football organization possible by keeping the interests of the children first and maintaining strong values which include sportsmanship, teamwork, responsibility, and commitment. Our purpose is to teach the game of football to children of this community and to provide an environment that will promote safety and fundamentals over winning. Players are encouraged to become teammates and to win & lose with dignity. We encourage our coaches, parents, and players to take pride in their team and our organization and to remember they represent the ASA Football to the community.
We offer two football seasons each year. In the Spring we offer Flag for kids in kindergarten and 1st grade. For 2nd grade through high school players we offer a a 7v7 football program. These programs are open to all players at all levels of abilities from beginner to experienced.
What is 7v7?
Most people are familiar with traditional 11-on-11 tackle football played around Texas in the fall. However, during the spring, there’s another game that continues to grow in popularity. ASA has been offering 7v7 Spring football since 2009. The game is fast, minimal contact (one-hand touch) and provides a great opportunity to develop ball handler skills. This is accomplished by focusing on positions, such as quarterbacks, running backs and wide receivers on the offensive side of the ball, and cornerbacks, safeties and linebackers on the defensive side. There are no blockers or any tackling allowed in this version of football, so it really provides a great opportunity to focus on the ball handler /coverage skills.
