Soccer Parent FAQ

Question: When is Soccer Registration?

Answer: Fall May 1- June 28 

 

Question: Is my child old enough to play soccer?

Answer: A player must be born by September 1, 2021 to play in the Fall. No exceptions.

 

Question: Do I have to live in Allen in order to participate in Soccer?

Answer: No ASA Soccer is open to everyone. We do try place by School for those that reside in Allen and Fairview/Lucas.

Question: What happens after I register my child for soccer?

If your child is a returning player and wishing to return to the same team in which he or she participated in the Spring 2024 Soccer Season, you may select “return to team” as your registration type. We will move you over after we verified you were on the team in Spring. Since we are using a new registration system, you will be moved manually. If you are a returning player requesting to “open registration” or are a New Player, then your child will remain in open registration until the end of registration in June. Players will be placed on teams at the close of registration.

 

Question: What if my child wants to play up an age group?

: Your child will be able to play up one age group. However, they must meet minimum age requirement for soccer (born by September 1, 2021 )

 

Question: What if my child is NEW to ASA Soccer?

Answer: You will need to submit a copy of your child’s Government Birth Certificate to the ASA office shortly after you register. We do not accept hospital birth certificates. You can upload a copy of your child’s Birth Certificate on the Birth Certificate Form online. We can not place your child on team without it.

 

Question: My child is new to soccer, can I volunteer to coach my child’s team?

Answer:We are always looking for volunteer coaches. We will form teams based on number of players registered. You will receive and email from us at the close of registration. If you will be head coaching a team. If you are interested in coaching you must register yourself as a Coach online, and complete the online NTSSA background check and Safesport training. For more information on coaches, please look online www.allensports.org Under Soccer and then coaches information. The North Texas State Soccer Background check and Safesport, starts over every Summer beginning June 1.

 

Question: If my child is a returning player to soccer and skipped a season, can he or she return to their same team they played in Fall  2023?

Answer: A player that skips 1 season, may request to return to the same team, and will be placed on it only if space is available. You will register in the “draft” and place your request in the notes section of the registration. We will not place any players until the close of registration. If your child is unable to get on that team, we will do our best to place you on team closest to your child’s public school.

 

Question: Can I make a special request?

New players and players that sat out 2 seasons may request to play with a friend. The Soccer Board does their best to honor requests.

 

The ASA Soccer Board (League Directors) will oversee team formation once registration closes. Players will not be placed until after registration closes June 28.

Question: How is my child placed on a team?

Answer: Players are placed based on age, gender, and geographical location “school area.” Teams will be created based on number of new players registered and number of openings on existing teams. Team formation happens after registration closes.

 

Question: Can a player play on more than one outdoor soccer team?

Answer: No. Players may only register for one outdoor North Texas State Soccer team a year. This includes Recreational and Competitive. You can not play both. However, Under 7 through Under 10 playing academy may participate in academy registration as well as recreational registration, as academy is considered developmental.

 

Question: When Can I expect to hear from a Coach?

Answer: You should hear from a coach, once teams are formed (typically two weeks after registration closes) Teams that are in need of a parent to coach will be contacted by the league to ask a parent for a parent to volunteer.

Question: When are the practices?

Answer: Practices are up to the coach. Coaches can begin practice once they receive the roster. We encourage coaches to practices at local parks, if a coach is wanting to reserve a game field, we will have signs up first come first serve For Celebration Soccer fields,. The coach must reserve online during reservation selected times. Games will take priority over practices. Communication on practice field sign up will go out to coaches after registration closes. Practices will not be on game fields until a week or two weeks depending on season before scheduled games.  Coaches may start practicing in open space at anytime once they receive their roster.

 

Question: When does the season begin?

Answer: Season begins as early as August 24 4u-10U and September 7 11U-19U

 

Question: When and Where are the games played?

Answer: Games are played generally on Saturdays anywhere between 8:00am-:5:00pm. There may be week night games for rainouts and leagues with an odd number of teams in a division,and rainouts. 13U-19U teams may have make up games on Sunday afternoons.

  • 4 and Under through 12 and Under will take place at Allen Celebration Park
  • 13 and Under through 19 and Under will play in McKinney Al Ruschhaupt Park, Celebration park and in Frisco at Warren park, Northeast Park, and Toyota Park.

 

Question: When will I find out when my first game will be?

Answer: Schedules will be posted online at least 1 week before the season begins.

U13-U19 Schedules will be posted online on Frisco Soccer website 

 

Question: Who Provides the Uniform?

Answer: Uniforms are up to each team. It is not included in the registration fee. The coach will let you know where to get your uniform after teams are formed. ASA recommends our preferred vendor High-5 Sports in Allen located at 1201 E Main Street #260.Uniforms should be ordered 3 weeks prior to first scheduled game

Question: What type of equipment will I need?

All players must provide their own equipment. You must purchase shin guards, and the appropriate size ball for practice. It is mandatory that shin guards be worn at all games and practices. Soccer cleats are optional. Baseball cleats with a toe-cleat OR metal cleats are not allowed. ASA will have a Shop Day at Dick’s Sporting Goods Store in August

Size 5 NEW THIS YEAR :

This year 4U (2021) LEAGUE , 9U (2016) League , and 13U (2012) will be provided a soccer ball for each player. This will be provided at the Coaches meeting

Question: Can my child wear earrings during soccer games?

Answer: No Jewelry can be worn during games. This includes new pierced ears (Tape over earrings will not be accepted).

 

Question: Will games be played during Fall Break?

Answer: IT is not guaranteed. ASA Soccer will have to take off two weeks (including one weekend) for City of Allen Parks and Recreation Department Overseeding of Fields. We will not know that date until closer to the season starting. If it is not during Fall Break, you would have games on both the weekends during Fall Break
