ADDITIONAL FEES:
Registration will require fees, as noted above, plus a current US Lacrosse registration of $25 per player. US Lacrosse membership is 12 months. If you registered or renewed your registration in Spring 2008 you do not need to renew until Spring 2009. If you are new to lacrosse or if your membership has expired you MUST register with US Lacrosse. Membership includes requisite insurance coverage, and a subscription to Lacrosse Magazine. Volunteer Coaches Needed

If you have any desire to work with children in a positive manner, please register as a coach below. Online curriculum is available, and ASA Lacrosse has a multitude of training DVDs, books to help you transfer your knowledge to the kids. Please use the registration link to volunteer once registration has opened.

We currently have openings for coaches in:

  • Girls Development Program (Grades 2-4) - This position will work on passing, catching, shooting, while running the short field game program. There is no lacrosse experience required.
  • Girls Elementary School Program (Grades 5-6) - This position will be an assistant coach position to be mentored by current Allen coaches. There is no lacrosse experience required.
  • Boys Program - We have need of coaches at all levels with the boys program. Previous coaching experience is not necessary. However if you have previous experience coaching or playing lacrosse you could make a tremendous contribution to the development of lacrosse in Allen
 
 

Fall 2008 Season Information

EQUIPMENT & UNIFORMS

Uniforms & Player equipment are NOT included in the registration fee. Please click on the “Uniform” link above for a list of required Lacrosse equipment.

EXCEPTION: A lacrosse stick will be provided for Girls Development players as part of their registration fee.

FOR GIRL'S LACROSSE:

Elementary school players (5-6 Grade) and Middle school players (7-8 Grade) are required to purchase a reversible practice jersey. Returning players may use jerseys from the spring season. Formal lacrosse uniforms are being considered for the fall season for the Middle school team.

FOR BOY'S LACROSSE:

Returning players may use their current Fall 2007 uniforms. New players or players that did not play in the fall will need to purchase a uniform.

BOYS LACROSSE

The Fall 2008 boys lacrosse program will be divided up in to 3 different leagues giving lots of options to all different levels of players.

Bantam -

The bantam league is open to all boys in 3rd or 4th grade. Bantam teams will play in 3 tournaments in and around the metroplex plus games in and around the metroplex.

Lightning -

The Lightning league is open to boys who are in the 5th and 6th grade. Lightning teams will play in 3 tournaments in and around the metroplex plus games in and around the metroplex.

Juniors -

The Junior league is open to all boys who are in the 7th and 8th grade regardless of skill level. However, one team may include all 8th graders to help ensure a smoot transition to the high school program.

TEAM FORMATION

Typically in the Fall season there are enough players for one team per division. If there are enough boys in a given division to form two teams those teams will be created based on skill level to allow each player to develope their skills to the greatest potential possible.

Tournaments

Tournaments are scheduled on weekends with games being played throughout Saturday and Sunday. Travel to tournament locations in cities around the metroplex is required. This may include cities and regions such as Plano, Southlake, and Richardson.

Games

Games are typically scheduled on Saturdays, but may have some games scheduled during weeknights. Travel to competing local organizations in cities around the metroplex is required. This may include cities and regions such as coppell, Southlake, and North Dallas.

GIRLS LACROSSE

PRACTICES

Practice will be a minimum two days per week (one being Saturday), with potential scrimmages at home or neighboring communities. Practice location TBD (either Reed Elementary School, Jupiter Field, or Ford Field). An alternative practice location will be at Watters Crossing Park in Allen.

GIRLS ELEMENTARY PROGRAM

This program is open to girls in 5th and 6th grade. Teams are made up of players of all skill levels.

GIRLS MIDDLE SCHOOL PROGRAM

This program is open to girls in 7th and 8th grade. Teams are made up of players of all skill levels.

Tournaments

Tournaments are scheduled on weekends (Tenative dates – Oct 26/27 and Dec 2/3) with games being played throughout Saturday and Sunday. Travel to tournament locations in cities around the metroplex is required. This may include cities and regions such as Plano, Southlake and Richardson. The tournaments have traditionally been held in Richardson.

GAMES

There are no scheduled games in the fall, but plans are in place to scrimmage competing local organizations.

“PLAYING UP”

Parents requesting their daughter to participate in a higher-grade program must email the request to the League Director, Chris Smith (zzpz755@sbcglobal.net) prior to the first fall practice session. Approval for playing up will be at the discretion of the Girls League Director.

GIRL’S Developmental Program

The Fall 2008 Girl’s Development Program is open to 2 nd, 3 rd, and 4th graders and is designed to teach basic skills for a strong basis for future lacrosse play. This six-week program involves no physical contact and focuses on the basics of the game through practices and scrimmages. All players will be provided a stick. Each week, the girls will participate in an informal short field lacrosse game with emphasis on passing catching and having fun.

FIELDS

The official lacrosse home practice field for ASA Lacrosse is at Reed Elementary. The league also uses Jupiter fields for practices and games.

New Players
Returning Players
New players are players who have not participated in any ASA sports.
Returning players are players who have previously participated in an ASA sport.

All registrations must be completed online.

 

Coach Registration

All Coaches should register online. If you do not register as a coach we will not know if you will be coaching and you will not be able to access your team roster. Coaches must register during the dates provided for player registration. Once you have registered as a coach you will be contacted if further information is necessary.
