"Lacrosse, considered to be America's first sport, was born of the North American Indian, christened by the French, and adapted and raised by the Canadians. Athletes and enthusiasts of the United States and the British Commonwealth have embraced modern lacrosse for over a century. The sport is a combination of basketball, soccer and hockey. Anyone can play lacrosse - the big or the small. The game requires and rewards coordination and agility, not brawn. Quickness and speed are two highly prized qualities in lacrosse."

Both girls and boys enjoy the game of modern lacrosse. The girl's game emphasizes skill and ball handling. Since physical contact is penalized in the girl's game, eye and mouth guards are the only protectice equipment required. The boy's game allows more physical contact, and requires players to wear helmets with a face cage, shoulder pads, arm pads and padded gloves.

The fall season runs from mid-September to early December.  Both boys and girls teams play under the U.S. Lacrosse guidelines organized by the North Texas Chapter of USL.  Most of the teams will play in 3 tournaments throughout the fall.  In addition teams my play scrimmages if and when they can be scheduled.  Registration for the fall season will begin in mid-July and end in mid-September.  Teams will travel to locations outside of Allen for tournaments and possible scrimmages throughout the metroplex.

In the fall we also have developmental programs for girls in the 2nd – 4th grades and boys in the 1st – and 2nd grades.  These are fun non-contact programs that teach children the fundamental lacrosse skills including throwing, catching, and scooping.

The Spring season runs from mid February to mid May. Both boys and girls teams play under the U.S. Lacrosse guidelines organized by the North Texas Chapter of USL. The spring season is 8 game seasonconsists of practices, games and tournament play.  For games opponents come from school and club teams from across the state. Teams will have to travel to locations outside Allen for tournaments in north Texas that could include Plano, Richardson, and Southlake.

Information about the history of lacrosse, the rules and equipment can be found at the US Lacrosse Association website. Player are required to be members of US Lacrosse and can register at www.uslacrosse.org
